I love learning new skills and exploring new mediums for artistic expression so I do everything to get as many of these new experiences as I can! Even if these explorations are not as well developed as my design work, I think that just trying things out makes me a more well rounded designer and person. Not to mention that its usually a lot of fun!

Below I’ve outlined some of the processes I’ve tried! I think some of the things I created were kind of cool and I hope you think so too!

Letterpress

I was lucky enough to be able to take a letterpress class because RIT has a large letterpress collection. It gave me a much better understanding of how typography and it was very fun to be able to work with type in such a physical medium.

Jewelry Making

I got to take a jewelry making class and it was so interesting! It focused on techniques using mold making and pouring molten metal. I definitely learned a lot from it and it was so different from anything I’ve ever done.

Illustration

I love using illustrations in my design work but I have also done some standalone illustration. I specifically took a class that focused on digital illustrating in Illustrator. Here is some of my work from that class.

Printmaking

I had so much fun in my letterpress class that I decided to take a class about printmaking. This class focused on using traditional printmaking techniques to put images and illustrations on paper. It was so interesting to work on projects that were much most in the direction of fine art than most of my design work is.
